1. Element#2, Dance Nucleus, Singapore (2018)
Dance Nucleus :
In Dance Nucleus, we would like to investigate questions pertaining to the dichotomy of tradition versus contemporaneity - which remains a pertinent question in Singapore and Southeast Asia - through artistic practices. Resident artists in this case are invited, not just to conduct/continue their practice-based research, but also articulate their work in textual form, with the support of a mentor and each other. Bahasa Koreografi will be conducted in the Malay and Indonesian languages, as part of our effort to propose a different vocabulary for dance discourse that is better suited for our cultural region. Dance Nucleus is a space for practice-based research, creative development and knowledge production for independent dance. We foster a culture of critical discourse, self-education, artistic exchange and practical support. Our programmes are designed to respond to the needs of our members in a comprehensive way. We build partnerships in Singapore, Southeast Asia, Asia & Australia, and internationally.
