Synopsis:  This work explores the body as a social archive that records the rhythm of life, labor, and the exhaustion of the working class through the movements of male audiences in dangdut performances. Ayu shifts the focus from the sensuality of female singers to the bodies that are often unseen, bodies that dance not to be watched but to let go. Through observing and embodying these movements, Ayu reads dangdut as a liminoid space, a place where individuals move beyond their social identity and negotiate a temporary sense of freedom. The seemingly spontaneous movements actually carry memories of work, like the swing of a construction worker’s arm or the stomp of a laborer’s foot repeating the rhythm of daily life. In this reflection, dangdut appears not only as popular entertainment but as a field of encounter between the body and the social system, between the need to survive and the desire to feel free, even just for a moment.
